About

Many patients seeking psychiatric medication fear they'll be rushed through a 15-minute appointment and handed a prescription without being heard. I provide a different experience. My practice offers comprehensive general psychiatric evaluations and medication management for the full spectrum of adult psychiatric conditions. I also have particular expertise in treating complex trauma and PTSD, and in supporting people who struggle with intense emotions and unstable relationships using a DBT-informed framework. Before becoming a psychiatrist, I was a professor of literature, earning my PhD from Johns Hopkins University. Today, my clinical work is deeply shaped by that background, especially through an appreciation of how memory and narrative form who we are. In my practice, I blend rigorous, evidence-based psychopharmacology with warm, collaborative conversations. My goal is to ensure you feel fully understood and actively engaged in your own treatment plan. My Practice Focus & Frameworks General Psychiatric Care: I provide attentive, careful diagnostic evaluations and psychiatric medication management tailored to your unique situation. Supportive & DBT-Informed Concepts: I integrate evidence-based therapeutic tools to help you build practical skills for emotional regulation and distress tolerance. Seamless Collaboration with Your Therapist: You are welcome and highly encouraged to continue working with your existing therapist or skills group while receiving medication management from me. A Patient-Led Environment: I strive to create a respectful space where your voice and level of comfort dictate the pace of your clinical choices. Clinical Background & Credentials Board Certification: Diplomate, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (Psychiatry) Medical Degree: Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Residency Training: University of Washington School of Medicine (Specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy / DBT) Academic Appointment: Associate Professor of Psychiatry at OHSU Please note that my private practice operates independently from my faculty role at OHSU. All scheduling, billing, and clinical care through this portal are managed entirely through my private office.
